Merge PDF files online for free
Combine several PDFs into a single file, in the order you choose. Free, no sign-up, no watermark and without uploading your documents to any server.
Three blocks of sheets of different thickness wait in a row, each marked with one, two or three dots. One after another they move onto the tray of a press and stack up; at the end the clamp comes down on the spine. Enter, Space or the arrow keys move from one step to the next.
How to use it
- Choose the PDFs you want to merge or drag them onto the dashed area.
- Put them in order with the arrows: they are merged from top to bottom.
- Click “Merge and download” and save the resulting PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Are my documents uploaded to a server?
No. The PDFs are merged in your browser: this tool does not send them to or store them on any server.
Is there a limit on files or pages?
There is no limit on files or pages, and no watermark. Together they can add up to 200 MB; on a phone, very large files can take a while.
Is any quality lost when merging?
No. The pages are copied as they are, without recompressing images or text: the result looks the same as the originals.
Why can I not merge a password-protected PDF?
A protected PDF is encrypted and its pages cannot be copied. Open it with its password, save it without protection and add it again.
What merging PDFs is for
Many applications ask for a single file: a form with its supporting documents, the paperwork for a grant or a mortgage, a case file for a public office. It is also the easiest way to send several invoices, put together the chapters of a report or gather the scans of a document that came out as separate files.
The result is one PDF with all the pages in a row, in the order in which you placed the files. The pages are copied as they are, so they keep their selectable text, the quality of their images and their original size, even if you mix portrait and landscape sheets.
Your documents are not uploaded to any server
Most PDF merging services upload the files to their servers, process them there and send back the result. With payslips, contracts or medical reports, that means leaving a copy in a third party’s hands.
Here the merge is done in your browser, using your own computer’s memory: this tool does not send your files or store them. That is also why there are no queues, no daily limits and no watermark. The page does show Google ads; how they work is explained on the privacy page.
If something goes wrong
A password-protected PDF cannot be merged, because its pages are encrypted. Open it with its password, save it or print it as an unprotected PDF, and add that copy.
If the final file is too big to attach to an email, it is almost always down to scans at a very high resolution. Scan again at 150 or 200 dots per inch, which is enough to read any document, before merging.
